France’s star forward had his warm-up dramatically interrupted ahead of the game against Paraguay, but he quickly made his way into the crowd and showed off his classy side.
Kylian Mbappé took a wayward shot during France’s warm-up that dug into the crowd after hitting a Paraguayan fan. The Real Madrid superstar was preparing for Les Bleus’ World Cup last-16 match against Paraguay.
The Frenchman could not find his shooting boots before the match and fired one shot over the bar and into the crowd. Unfortunately, the fan hit his shot.
Mbappe moved quickly to check on the fans, even leaning over the perimeter of the field to make sure they were safe. It was reassuring to see the attackers notice the accident so quickly, even though they were so focused on such an important match.
The star striker will hope his shots are more accurate by the time the first whistle blows as France secure a place in the quarter-finals. Mbappe was not a familiar player on the scoresheet as his country established themselves as favorites to win the tournament.
Mbappe has scored six goals in the opening four games and is trailing Lionel Messi by one goal in the race for the Golden Boot in this tournament. Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are further behind Messi on goal difference, with all of that group featuring in the last 16.

Mbappe is less concerned with winning accolades than with winning a second World Cup trophy. 「違う、違う、違う。目標は(ワールドカップで)可能な限り遠くまで行くことだと思う。7月19日に間に合い、ここに戻ってきて優勝を目指すことだ」と彼は語った。
“We are working step by step. Of course, the more goals we score, the higher we can climb towards glory. I don’t think I’m telling anyone anything new. But besides that, I’m sure Leo will score more goals. So I’m not paying too much attention to that.”
“I’m focused on who I’m likely to play against and how close I am to the goal of the final. I’m not thinking about that (chasing the goalscoring record). Of course I’m conscious of the statistics.”
“Everyone is talking about them and I’m watching TV too. But all I’m thinking about is how I can help the team reach the final on July 19th.”
Les Bleus believes Paraguay will present a tough test despite their good run in games so far. “I’ve watched Paraguay, and what they’ve achieved is no coincidence,” Deschamps said.
“It’s a typical South American team, strong in duels, very tenacious, with some quality players. No team makes it to the last 16 of the World Cup by chance.”
Paraguay defeated Germany in the first round of the final tournament. After drawing with Die Mannschaft in the 90th minute, they took the lead through a goal from Julio Enciso, and Kai Havertz equalized, but they won on penalties.
