Tottenham’s transfer business appears to be far from over, with the club currently pursuing Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Crupi as their latest potential signing.
Tottenham will face stiff competition for his role, with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also interested.
Bournemouth are expected to resist selling one of their prized assets, with the club reportedly demanding a transfer fee of at least £80m for the 20-year-old. However, Spurs have already indicated they intend to spend big this transfer window to avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment.
The France Under-21 international scored 13 goals in 33 Premier League games for Bournemouth last season. His contract with Vitality Stadium runs until 2030.
Junior Crupi is at the top of the wishlist, while AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Man City’s Savinho have also been floated as possible alternatives. Spurs could also be looking for a central striker to back up Richarlison and Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford. The 23-year-old is currently in America as part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.
In addition to Fernandes, Spurs have already secured the signings of Martin Dubravka, Marco Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan-Paul van Hecke during the current transfer window.
The north London club are looking for Premier League-ready players and Roberto De Zerbi is keen to finalize a deal quickly so his new signing can play well in pre-season training.
Fernandes said after confirming the move that De Zerbi played a pivotal role in choosing to sign with the club, despite attracting interest from Manchester United.
“I’m very excited about the next step. Tottenham are a huge club and the head coach was a key factor in my decision to join,” he said.
“It was a very special memory when we spoke. We watch football the same way. We go on the pitch as a strong team, with fight and energy, and strive to win every game.”
