Sir David Beckham caused a huge stir among football fans last night when Scotland lost to Brazil in the World Cup. The camera panned to the Manchester United legend enjoying a glass of red wine in the stands at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
He watched Scotland suffer a heavy defeat to Carlo Ancelotti’s side, with their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages of the tournament now in jeopardy. Vinicius Junior scored his second goal against Scotland, while Man United forward Matheus Cunha added a third in the second half.
But it was the size of Beckham’s wine glass that got fans talking on social media during the game. The England icon looked as dapper as ever as he drank water from a giant glass.
“David Beckham with a fishbowl of red wine,” one fan wrote on social media. Another said: “Did you see David Beckham take a sip of red wine from the biggest glass ever?”
One fan said: “David Beckham has the biggest wine glass I’ve ever seen!”
With temperatures well above 30 degrees in Miami, one fan couldn’t believe Beckham’s drink choice. They said, “David Beckham’s choice of red wine in that humidity was crazy.”
Scotland got off to a dismal start as Scott McKenna’s early error gave Brazil the lead against the five-time world champions, but Aston Villa star John McGinn admitted his team would need a miracle to reach the finals.
After the game, he said, “That’s how I feel right now.” “That’s not how you want to go out either. You’re probably going to be sore tonight, you’re going to be sore tomorrow, and then you’re going to be quiet.
“If we’re going to get to the last 32, if we’re going to pull off a miracle, we’re going to have to be better, we know that. If you don’t take care of the ball in important moments and you make mistakes, you get punished, that’s club football and international football.”
