Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey only retired from football a few weeks ago after a stint in Mexico, but it appears the Welshman has already found a new role.

Aaron Ramsey is set to be drafted by League One side Oxford United just weeks after retiring. Oxford have been searching for a new manager since Matt Bloomfield was sacked last week following their relegation to the third tier of English football.
Bloomfield only took over the reins from Gary Rowett in January. However, Oxford appear to be eyeing the former Arsenal star ahead of the 2026-27 season.
According to the Telegraph, Ramsey and Oxford are in advanced talks to take over as manager at the Kassam Stadium. There was interest in the former midfielder from the Welsh Football Association and there were doubts over the future of Craig Bellamy, who has been linked to Burnley’s vacant position.
However, Ramsey reportedly wanted to pursue a career in club management. The 35-year-old has been working towards earning his coaching badge over the past few seasons and even had a brief stint as manager at his boyhood club Cardiff City.
Ramsey is expected to take on former Wales teammate Chris Gunter as his assistant if he moves to Oxford. His move comes just weeks after he announced his retirement after a stint in Mexico.
Ramsey said in a statement: “This was not an easy decision to make. After much consideration, I have decided to retire from football. I want to start in Wales.”
“It has been my privilege to wear the Wales shirt and experience so many great moments in it. It would not have been possible without the great cooperation of all the managers I have played for and all the staff who have helped me in various ways.”
