Frank Lampard has been heavily linked with other jobs since leading Coventry City to promotion, and it looks like the Chelsea legend’s future will be resolved sooner rather than later.
Frank Lampard is prepared to commit his future to Coventry City despite speculation linking him with other Premier League jobs, with talks on a new contract currently at an advanced stage.
The Chelsea legend brilliantly guided a fearless Coventry side to promotion last season, scoring an astonishing 97 goals as the Sky Blues en route to the Championship title. Lampard has won much praise for taking the club to the next level since taking over again in November 2024, with his stock as a manager at an all-time high as a result of his first promotion.
Whispers that Lampard could leave Coventry this summer have been circulating amid interest from top-flight clubs, particularly Crystal Palace and Fulham, with the latter still searching for a new head coach.
But it’s not Lampard, with the Telegraph reporting that the 47-year-old is now extremely close to signing a new contract.
The news will be a big boost for Coventry as they prepare for their first Premier League game in 25 years.
Lampard only has one year left on his current contract. However, the former England midfielder is said to have settled into the club and is working with Coventry owner Doug King to prepare for the new season.
Crystal Palace and Fulham are said to be interested in Lampard’s services after losing Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva to the end of their contracts respectively.
Palace then appointed Pierre Sarge as their new manager after the Frenchman’s impressive spell at Reims. He was named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year for his achievements last season, leading Reims to their first Coupe de France trophy and qualification for the Europa Conference League.
Fulham are thought to be interested in Alvaro Arbeloa, who has been free agent since leaving Real Madrid earlier this month.
The former Liverpool defender took charge of the Spanish giants on an interim basis following the departure of Xabi Alonso. However, his departure has been confirmed after Los Blancos confirmed that Lampard’s former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will return to the Bernabéu for a second term as manager.
