Harry Maguire believes Elliot Anderson, valued at £130m, can do the same for Declan Rice. Anderson and Rice played together in the Three Lions’ World Cup victory over Croatia.
Prior to the match, United withdrew from the race to sign Anderson, citing the huge amount of money needed to sign him. Despite this, Maguire seems to suggest Anderson is a similar player to the Arsenal midfielder.
The Englishman said: “I’ve heard there are a lot of clubs overseas who are going to follow him, but I have to say, I haven’t been with England for 12 months so I was interested to come in in March and see there were 10 or 15 new players that I hadn’t played with.”
“And I knew he was a good player. And in training he impressed me more than I knew. He really has it all. In terms of his profile, he reminds me of Declan Rice in some ways.”
“He’s good with the ball, he can drive with the ball. He’s got an eye for goal, and I’d say he’s playing as a number six at the moment, but I think he’s one of those guys and can play as a 10, an eight, a six. He’s that good.”
