Liverpool appear to be leading the race to sign Yann Diomande, having already signed one new attacker after snatching Victor Muñoz from Newcastle.
Liverpool have emerged as the frontrunners in the race to sign Yann Diomande this summer, but their offer of €100m (approximately £86.7m) to sign him is said to have been turned down.
Following reports that Liverpool were prepared to sanction a shock deal for the attacker, it was then reported that the Reds are likely to need a package of close to €120m (about £141m) to land Diomand, with the German side already having rejected the offer.
The news comes on the heels of the stunning swoop for Victor Muñoz, who was bound for Newcastle until Liverpool snatched his contract in the 11th hour. He was then confirmed as a Reds player, joining from Osasuna for £34.5 million.
Liverpool are in the market for a new attacker this summer, with their talisman Mohamed Salah set to leave.
Liverpool are now looking increasingly likely to sign Diomande in a blockbuster deal after The Athletic reported on his latest stance. They are willing to pay big sums for forwards, following last year’s big signings for Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
However, reports from Italy quickly outlined that RB Leipzig would not sell for that price and that Liverpool’s ‘offer’ had been rejected.
Despite winning both the French title and the Champions League for the second year in a row, Diomand has other suitors among Europe’s elite, including Paris Saint-Germain, who would like to further strengthen his attacking options.
