A Scottish showbiz presenter has said the country has a “better chance than we think” of qualifying for the next stage of the World Cup.
Jodie McCallum, 34, is a freelance television presenter known for her work with the BBC, ITV and ITN, where she has interviewed celebrities including Robert De Niro, Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt.
She’s temporarily switching from TV hosting to creating content for the social media channels of The Haven, Boston’s only Scottish bar. The store hosted a large party to watch Scotland’s debut 2026 World Cup match, which they won 1-0 against Haiti.
Mr McCullum interviewed bar customers and staff during the Tartan Army’s takeover of the city and said: “We don’t know when Scotland will be back in the World Cup, so now is our time. This is the dream.”
Speaking about Scotland’s last World Cup appearance, she said: “I was six years old the first time I competed, so of course I don’t remember, but the moment the draw was decided, I thought, ‘I have to go, I have to participate.’
“It’s been 28 years and we have to support our players. You know what I mean? I know a lot of people are putting us down, but I think we’re probably the ones that are down the most. But actually, I think we have a better chance than we think, considering we beat Bolivia completely.”
“We may be the underdogs, but I think we’ll be fine.”
