Chelsea have announced that Marc Cucurella has left the club to complete a permanent transfer to Real Madrid.
Marc Cucurella has officially completed his move to Real Madrid, marking the end of his time as a Chelsea player. Chelsea have announced that Cucurella will join the La Liga giants on a permanent contract.
The left-back is currently playing for the Spanish national team at the World Cup in North America, and will officially transfer to the Santiago Bernabéu once the tournament is over.
News broke on Sunday that Chelsea had agreed a total package of £51.7m for Cucurella to join Madrid, which is thought to include a starting salary worth £47.4m and a further £4.3m in add-ons.
The deal brings Cucurella to the end of almost four years as a Chelsea player, with the left-back making 150 appearances since joining from Brighton for £63 million.
Chelsea said in a statement: “Marc Cucurella has completed his permanent transfer to Real Madrid in La Liga.”
Cucurella joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2022 and was part of the team that won the UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup last year.
“During Cucurella’s stay at Stamford Bridge, the 27-year-old defender featured regularly for the Spanish national team, which won the 2024 UEFA European Championship.
“Everyone at Chelsea FC would like to thank Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and for the role he has played in our recent achievements.
“We wish him every success as he begins the next phase of his career.”

Madrid went on to announce the signing of Cucurella, with the Spanish international moving to the Santiago Bernabéu on a six-year contract.
“Real Madrid CF and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Marc Cucurella, who will remain at our club for the next six seasons until June 30, 2032,” Madrid confirmed in a statement.
Kukreja’s departure comes ahead of Xabi Alonso’s first official day as Chelsea manager, with the former Real Madrid manager taking over earlier this year and due to take over on July 1.
Alonso will go into next season without Chelsea’s starting left-back from last season, and it remains to be seen whether the Blues will make a move to sign a replacement.
Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League last season, and with no European football competition next season, it is unclear what the club’s transfer plans will be for the remainder of the summer.
