Ebelesi Eze insists he will take a penalty in the World Cup shootout even after being heartbroken in the Champions League final.

Eze missed out on Arsenal’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Paris Saint-Germain but said he would have no hesitation in stepping up again for England.

When asked if he would take a shot in the World Cup shootout, Eze said: “If asked, of course I would. Why wouldn’t I take a shot?”

“Football has everything. You have to accept everything as it is and try to enjoy it as much as possible. Playing in the Champions League final is where I want to be and what I want to do.”

“We’re going to try again next season. If a penalty is given, I’m going to be there again. All the big players miss big penalties and have these kinds of moments.

“I’ve gotten messages from everyone about that moment. For me, it’s not something I wish had never happened. I’m grateful that it happened. I’m going to grow from what happened, learn from it and move forward.”

Arsenal star Eze also insisted he has no intention of changing his style when it comes to penalties, even after failing in the Champions League final shootout.

Eze, who was also absent from the 2025 Community Shield game against Liverpool, which went to penalties, often teetered on the run before taking a shot against PSG, but his shot went wide.

However, Eze insisted that although he receives many messages of support from other players, it does not affect his confidence or belief.

England star Eze added: “I think I’ve been penalized for a long time, but it’s part of the journey. We have to keep improving and finding new ways to improve.”

“I’m not going to stress too much because I know I’m in this position for a reason and there’s training behind it.

“Honestly, even before you talk to the other players, you can see how the big players carry themselves. They step up and do what they have to do.”

“If you’re going to make a mistake, you’re going to make a mistake. If you’re going to finish, you’re going to finish. It’s about having the mentality to keep going. That’s part of the journey.”
