Ebelesi Eze says his rollercoaster season at Arsenal, which culminated in the team’s first Premier League win since 2004, helped him grow ‘a lot’ and realize his potential

Eberechi Eze says his roller coaster season ended with a “beautiful experience”. And the Arsenal forward insists England’s stars will bring a winning mentality to “go all the way” at this summer’s World Cup.

Eze was one of four Arsenal players (also Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Noni Madueke) to win Arsenal’s first title in 22 years. Harry Kane won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, while fellow team members Marc Göch, John Stones, Nico O’Reilly, James Trafford, Marcus Rashford, Olly Watkins, Ezri Konsa, Morgan Rodgers and Dean Henderson have all won trophies with their clubs this season.

Eze will cherish the memories of Arsenal’s parade celebrating their Premier League win, but he also said the experience was even deeper and will help England this summer.

England star Eze said: “It was crazy. It was a great experience to do it with my friends and family. It will stay with me forever.”

“Every year you get another year of experience and you pick up different things that are important for the next stage. Winning gives you confidence and it gives you confidence that you can go all the way. We’ll all definitely take advantage of that.”

“I think it’s important for players to have confidence, experience wins and achieve goals. It gives you a different level of confidence and it only helps us here that many players experience that.”

“I feel like I’ve grown a lot. It’s been a season with a lot of ups and downs, and I’ve had a lot to overcome, but it’s been a fun season and something I want to experience every year. I just want to continue to improve, get better, and grow.”

It has been an eventful season for Arsenal and a fantastic first year at the Emirates for Eze, who has been a fan since he was a boy. He had an outstanding season, scoring a hat-trick in the North London derby, missed a penalty in the Champions League final and had many ups and downs in the title race.

Arsenal had been leading the title race for a long time and were aiming for four trophies in March, but despite losing to Manchester City in April, they bounced back and showed incredible resilience to fight for the title.

That undoubtedly strengthened Eze’s confidence and belief and helped his mindset as he spoke of the ups and downs of his first year at Arsenal.

Eze said, “It’s crazy. It’s where you want to be and going through those things just makes you a bigger player, a bigger person. You can always fall back on that.”

“For me, it was fun. That’s what you want to be a part of. You play football for that moment, that time.”

“It was the hard work of the coach, the team, and all of us that we were able to come away with this victory. I thank God that we were able to live through this moment and continue to grow as players.”

Eze is a very cool customer and speaks with confidence as a player who is reaching his full potential even in the scorching heat of Kansas City.

He laughed and said he was wearing his own boots after England got a scratch on his kit. He said he is adapting to the climate and heat with each training session, even if he is not looking beyond Wednesday’s first match against Croatia.

Eze added: “It’s great to be here enjoying the sun and preparing for the World Cup. That’s what we want. We’ve been training in the heat for a while. It’s better than before, but it’s not the easiest. We’ll definitely prepare.”

“This is serious for all of us. We know it will take everything to get to the end. We all have the right mentality and want to enjoy the whole process, no matter what stage we are at.”

“We’re more focused on what we need to do to achieve what we want to achieve. It’s not about thinking too much about the future or how long we’re going to be there. It’s the steps to get there. Of course, everyone has goals. We know what the goals are for us. Just focus on the next game.”
