Wolves have already started making plans for life in the Championship, but the club’s owners have decided to move Rob Edwards seven months after he arrived at Molineux.
Wolves have made the decision to sack former Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards, despite him leading the club’s rebuilding plan following their relegation this summer.
Edwards, 43, only took over in November last year after leaving Boro, who were on the rise in the Championship at the time. Wolves were relegated from the Premier League in 19th place after a disastrous season, and despite failing to turn the club around, it appears the owners were keen to maintain a relationship with him.
The Black Country side have begun their summer business with the signings of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, with midfielder Andre committing his future to the club, and Edwards looks set to play a key role in those deals.
However, according to the Telegraph, he was sacked after just seven months in the role and is expected to be replaced by Cesar Peixoto, coached by Gil Vicente.

The Portuguese coach has been with the team since March last year and also had spells at Académica, Moreirense and Pacos Ferreira.
The Wolves’ decision is puzzling, considering Edwards played a major role in acquiring Trippier and Jimenez, with both players citing his influence in their additions. And speaking after signing the former Newcastle defender, Edwards appeared to hint during his initial approach that he would be the one to lead the club’s bid to return to the Premier League.
“We have to go there this season and I want to be there with good players! It’s not like there’s any more pressure on us. It’s just that it actually makes me feel good that we’re building the team that I’ve been saying we should do.”
“We need to have a better and stronger team than last year because we didn’t have enough competition last year. So we’re working hard to ensure we’re competitive. The pressure will be there in any case because Wolves, who have played in the Premier League for eight years, are in the Championship.”
“I know there’s going to be pressure, but I want to feel the pressure with guys like Trips and then turn around and know that I have really good, strong players behind me.”
Ironically, former Wolves manager Gary O’Neill has also been linked with Ipswich Town’s vacancy following the departure of Kieran McKenna and could move on in the coming days.
