David Sullivan has resigned as West Ham co-chairman and manager after being informed of the impending publication of “serious historical allegations” which he denies.
West Ham midfielder Mohamadou Kante has released a statement in support of David Sullivan following the latter’s resignation as co-chairman and manager of the club.
Sullivan made the decision Saturday after being informed of the impending publication of “serious historical allegations” that he denies.
“We understand that none of the allegations relate to West Ham United or its operations,” West Ham said in a statement.
“Mr. Sullivan, through his legal representatives, denies any wrongdoing and has decided to resign to avoid any disruption to the club while he resolves this matter privately.”
The 77-year-old was co-chairman of West Ham for 16 years, completing the takeover of the club in 2010 with former business partner David Gold.
Kante joined West Ham from Paris FC in August 2024 on a five-year contract. The 20-year-old has made 14 appearances for the first team so far and is determined to speak out in support of Sullivan.
“Due to times like these, I wanted to send a personal message to David Sullivan,” the Frenchman wrote on Instagram. “When I went through some difficult times early in my career, he was one of the few people who believed in me. He believed in me and supported me with patience and respect. That meant a lot to me.”
“All I can talk about is the man I knew and the help he gave me at important moments in my life. I respect the work of justice and am confident that the truth will be established by the competent authorities.
“In anticipation of this, I simply wanted to show him my support as a human being and let him know that my thoughts are with him and his family at this particularly difficult time.”
Sullivan said in a statement: “I recently discovered that decades-old facts about my personal life are incorrect and completely false. The false allegations against me have been sensationalized by the media.
“While I have built a business in the adult industry and spent my life working with thousands of women, it is sadly inevitable that a small number of allegations of inappropriate conduct will be made against me. I categorically deny these allegations. I am an individual and Tablo Those who know the real David Sullivan, both personally and professionally, and not the caricatures fabricated by Ido, know exactly who I am and what I represent. I am definitely not who the media has decided to portray me as.
“I have not been adequately briefed on how these individuals or their claims were independently verified or assessed for credibility prior to publication. I believe the entire process is fundamentally unfair and completely lacking in due impartiality.”
