Arsenal have finally ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title, but Mikel Arteta and the club’s owners are planning another big summer transfer window
Arsenal are planning to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Emmanuel Mbemba.
The 18-year-old has been offered professional terms by the European champions but is yet to commit his future to the club.
Intercity rivals Paris FC wanted to sign the teenager on a free transfer, but Arsenal have reportedly decided to move on. Le Parisien claims the Gunners presented the player with their project after reprimanding him numerous times throughout the season.
Mbemba played a key role in PSG’s Under-18 team winning the Coupe Gambardella, France’s youth team cup competition. PSG are desperate to keep the player, but his future is still up in the air.
Primarily a left-back, Mbemba can also play in central defence, giving him the flexibility Mikel Arteta is looking for. However, reports in the French press suggest the player may soon struggle to obtain a work permit to play for the Gunners.
But that won’t be a big problem for Arsenal. Arsenal are looking to add depth to a squad that lost out on penalties until they lost out on being crowned champions of England and Europe.
Arteta is planning a busy summer period, targeting a number of regions. Mirror Football understands Aston Villa’s Morgan Rodgers is a top target for the Gunners, but manager Unai Emery insists there will be no forced sale.
Arsenal privately believe that if the English player presses ahead with a move away from the Midlands during the summer, Arsenal will be his first choice.
However, Arsenal may be forced to sell after spending heavily in the summer of 2025, with the futures of many of their players uncertain.
Arsenal co-owner Josh Kroenke has already admitted he has no plans to stop after finally ending his 22-year wait for a Premier League title.
He said: “Business never stops. There are already teams coming at us now that are stepping up for next season.
“We need to be aware of that. We’ve already had some different conversations about different areas where we think we can improve on and off the pitch.
“I’m looking forward to it happening this summer, but it’s going to be interesting because of the World Cup, but fortunately everyone’s coming to the United States so I don’t have to travel.”
