Arne Slott was only sacked by Liverpool last weekend, but the Dutchman has already been given the chance to secure an immediate return to Premier League management.
Less than a week after being sacked by Liverpool, Arne Slott has rejected an approach from Fulham to become their new head coach.
The Dutchman, who won the Premier League in his first season at Anfield, was relieved of his post last Saturday after a disappointing season as manager. Impressive outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola was then confirmed as Slott’s successor, with the 43-year-old signing a two-year deal.
Slott’s stock has fallen following a disastrous title defense against Liverpool, but he remains an attractive option and it was revealed this week that Fulham made an immediate play for him.
However, The Times reported that Slott is not interested in the Craven Cottage vacancy and is content to wait for a suitable job opportunity to present itself after leaving Anfield.
The 47-year-old is already being discussed as a candidate to coach the Dutch national team after the World Cup.
Fulham confirmed that current manager Marco Silva will leave the club when his contract expires earlier this week. He is ready to replace Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho as Benfica’s manager.
Kieran McKenna is thought to be one of Fulham’s targets to replace Silva, but signing the Ipswich Town manager will not come cheap.
McKenna will be paid around £8m after taking Ipswich back to the Premier League.
Former Brentford and Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is another manager being linked as a possible target for Fulham. However, the Dane released a statement on Friday confirming that he will not be taking another job this summer.
Frank, who covers the World Cup as a pundit for the BBC, said: “There have been discussions and opportunities since I left Spurs, but I have decided not to rush into a new role. For me, this summer is not the right time to return to management.”
“When the time is right, I look forward to returning as manager and am ready to approach the job with great energy and dedication.”
