Rio Ngmoja has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Liverpool, with Bayern Munich hoping to sign the teenager this summer as Vincent Kompany looks to strengthen their front line.
Bayern Munich are said to be considering an ambitious move for Liverpool’s teenage sensation Rio Ngmoha this summer.
Bayern are looking to strengthen their front line and have identified the teenager as an ideal addition to the left flank of their attack. Ngmoha enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Reds, becoming a rare bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming season.
The 17-year-old is aware that Bayern are interested in him, along with potential signing Vincent Kompany, but The Athletic report that no contact has yet been made between the two clubs.
The winger signed his first professional contract in September and is tied to Anfield until June 2028, with Liverpool having no plans to sell one of their most promising players. Instead, they want to further intensify their attacks after their well-documented struggles.
Liverpool made a deal 12 months ago when Bayern sold Luis Diaz to the German giants, and the Colombian was a huge hit. Ngmoha’s quality and potential are part of the reason why the Reds did not replace Dias, knowing full well that the teenager was on the rise.
Ngmoha played 29 games in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. His first-time shot showed incredible composure and maturity, and the winger put Newcastle home for the first time in stoppage time.
The Liverpool teenager, who is currently training with England in Florida for the World Cup, has proven to be a huge hit with the Anfield crowd. Just last month, former Reds manager Arne Slott was booed when he pulled Ngmoha out in the draw with Chelsea. The youngster proved to be one of the rare bright lights in the game.
Liverpool’s next move in terms of reinforcements and retention will be influenced by new manager Andoni Iraola. The Spaniard has stepped up from Bournemouth and should replace Mohamed Salah, who left this summer. The top target is RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande.
Bayern are currently led from the front by England defender Harry Kane, with Dias and former Crystal Palace star Michael Oliseh contributing to an excellent front line. They want Ngmoha to add to that credit and have shown a willingness to target the British talent. Years ago, they made a big play out of Callum Hudson-Odoi when he was a rising star at Chelsea.
