Manchester City chairman Al Mubarak promises to break his silence on investigation into Manchester City’s alleged breaches of spending rules once the verdict is announced

Manchester City president Khaldoon Al Mubarak has warned rivals that the club will continue to spend heavily to keep winning silver medals.

City won an astonishing 20 trophies during Pep Guardiola’s 10-year reign at the Etihad. And despite the Spaniard’s departure, Al Mubarak insists City will continue to splurge on money.

City are close to winning the race to sign England ace Elliot Anderson in a deal that could cost him £100m.

City’s value has soared from £100m to nearly £7bn since Sheikh Mansour bought the club. And Al Mubarak admits Mansour has no intention of selling the club and will continue to lavish billions of dollars into the club.

“You can look at investing today, which means you can look at profit today. You want dividends today, you want profit today. Or you can look at value building, the value of the companies you’re investing in,” Al Mubarak said.

“Sheikh Mansour sees this club as a long-term investment. Sheikh Mansour and the shareholders who have invested in the club for many years support our vision of investing in something that will grow in value over time.”

“Of course, Your Highness has no intention of selling this business. Sheikh Mansour made a very important choice, which was that we would continue to build this so the funds would remain.”

“We’re not going to sell. We’re just going to keep growing this, because this is only going to grow, and this is a beautiful business to own.”

“It’s football, it’s entertainment, and in the world we’re in today, even though the world has changed and people’s attention has shifted to different things, the sport remains.

“Football is the pinnacle of sports. Manchester City and this group are the pinnacle of football. And these kinds of gems don’t sell.”

Meanwhile, Al Mubarak has vowed to break his silence once the verdict is announced in a hearing into 115 charges that City breached Premier League spending rules.

He added, “I want you to be as consistent as you have been. I can’t say much until the verdict is out. Once the verdict is out, believe me, we’re going to have a great roundtable together and say everything I’ve wanted to say for the last three years.”
