Nottingham Forest have rejected Manchester City’s offer to sign Elliott Anderson. This is according to The Athletic, who report that despite the offer being rejected, City’s pursuit of the England international remains ongoing.

However, it is also reported that Forest manager will aim to secure the best possible contract for Anderson if he leaves the City Ground this summer. And they will only consider offers over £100m.

Since joining Forest from Newcastle United in the summer of 2024, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League. City and Manchester United were keen to sign the England international this summer.

However, the Old Trafford bosses have no intention of meeting an offer of around £100m. United also understand that England international Anderson wants to join City rather than them.

Anderson is currently preparing for the start of the World Cup in the United States, and after Forest’s final game of the Premier League season, Vitor Pereira was asked if Anderson would stay. He said: “There is no answer. If you ask me if he deserves to be at the best club in the world, he deserves it.”

“He has a lot of quality, he has talent. But he is our player and I am very happy with him. The market is the market and I can’t predict the market. We know that we want to keep the same players and bring in two or three players to keep the team balanced. We will see in the end.”

He further added: “This season has been very close in terms of relegation battles, teams like Tottenham, West Ham, Leeds and Nottingham Forest have been very tough this season.

“There are three games left until the end of the season and just to be safe, the last two games are very difficult from my experience, we performed well, we competed and we made it to the semi-finals.

“It’s not easy to play two competitions, struggling in one and trying to advance in the other. At the end of the day, I’m proud. We’re proud of our work and our supporters. I believe we can do well next season.”

Anderson has played in every Premier League game for Forest this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He also played in 12 games in the Europa League, helping his team reach the semi-finals.

When asked about his future at Forest in March, he insisted he would not lose sight of this summer’s top priority, the World Cup. “Of course, there’s the World Cup this summer, so my eyes are focused on that,” he said. “I’m playing for England so I’m wearing the badge so that’s all I can think about at the moment.”
