Liverpool have chosen to sack Arne Slott and are in the process of appointing a new head coach as the summer transfer window approaches.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are said to have raised the possibility of signing Denzel Dumfries during negotiations that would see Curtis Jones go in the opposite direction to Inter Milan.
The Liverpool midfielder is currently in the final 12 months of his contract, with Inter wooing Jones ahead of the summer transfer window. But the Italian giants have struggled to live up to Liverpool’s appreciation for the midfielder, who has risen to prominence at Anfield and become a mainstay in the first team.
It was reported last week that there was a “rift” between the two sides in negotiations, with Inter hoping to raise further funds before potentially trying to reach a deal again in July.
Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, claim that Liverpool have proposed bringing Dumfries into negotiations for Jones, given the differing valuations between the two clubs.

Liverpool are thought to value the 25-year-old midfielder at €30m (about £25.9m), around €10m (about €860m) more than Inter could pay.
Dumfries has long been linked with a move to Liverpool, and interest in the Dutch wing-back appears to have continued despite Arne Slott’s departure on Saturday.
The 30-year-old is said to have a €25 million release clause in his contract, but it is unclear whether the two clubs plan to proceed with negotiations for the player in question.

He could become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era if Liverpool press through with a move to bring Dumfries to Anfield in the coming weeks.
The outgoing Bournemouth manager has quickly emerged as a candidate to replace Slott and has suspended talks with Crystal Palace. The Reds are expected to hold talks with Liverpool this week, with the Reds hoping to secure their pick before the World Cup kicks off on June 11.

Iraola won much praise for his impressive body of work on the south coast and left Bournemouth having qualified for European football with a club-best ever sixth place in the Premier League.
If Liverpool decide to look further afield in their search for a new head coach, Stuttgart star Sebastian Hoeness could also be a candidate to replace Slott, as does Reims manager Pierre Sarge.
