Manchester United manager Carrick could increase transfer fee thanks to Chelsea | Soccer | Sports

Manchester United could be in for a welcome financial boost following the latest developments surrounding Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Chelsea. United sold Garnacho to the London club at the end of last summer in a deal worth £40 million, after the Argentina international made his desire to leave Old Trafford clear.

Since his move, Garnacho has scored just eight goals for Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge, with just one of those goals reaching the Premier League, leaving serious doubts over his future in the capital after a disappointing first season. As a result, speculation about Garnacho’s future continues to intensify as the summer transfer window approaches. According to The Sun, Chelsea are prepared to hand Garnacho a permanent departure this summer, just 12 months after he left United for Stamford Bridge.

Garnacho was already facing an uncertain outlook this summer, with Chelsea operating under a new system with Xabi Alonso taking over permanently following Liam Rosenior’s departure in April.

Separate reports from journalist Simon Phillips also suggest that Chelsea will seek to recoup £40m from selling Garnacho this summer, although no specific club has been named as a potential candidate for the former United winger.

United will be keeping a close eye on how Garnacho’s situation develops, given the financial benefits they would receive if he were to leave Chelsea this summer.

The £40m deal United agreed with Chelsea last year included a 10% sell-on clause.

As a result, United will receive a cut of Garnacho’s signing fee if Chelsea secure Garnacho’s contract this summer if the Argentine international’s transfer is completed.

If Chelsea are successful in selling Garnacho for their £40m asking price, United could be handed an extra £4m this summer.

Former Chelsea star Wayne Bridge recently shared his thoughts on Garnacho’s tenure at Stamford Bridge and offered advice to the former United forward.

“Sometimes I look at players who have so much potential and wonder if they need an old head or a father figure to help them develop mentally,” Bridge told football.london earlier this month.

“I’m not saying it’s definitely something he needs, but Glenn Hoddle did so much for me when I was younger. He believed in me and let me do visualization techniques and meditation.

“At one event, someone asked him who was the best player he had ever trained, and he said I couldn’t believe how good I was, but he made the players around him believe in him.”

“I don’t know if Garnacho needs a father figure to keep his head straight and do the right thing, but there’s a lot of potential there. I think sometimes players just need guidance to keep going in the right direction.”
