Free broadcast ends: For the first time in 34 years, the Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG will no longer be available to watch for free in the UK. Breaking with decades of tradition, the match will be broadcast exclusively behind a paywall.
How to watch: UK rights holder TNT Sports will broadcast the final from Puskas Arena in Budapest on Saturday, May 30th. Viewers can watch the games by subscribing directly to TNT Sports or through streaming platforms such as HBO Max.
Cheapest option: A full subscription to TNT Sports can cost up to £34 per month, but the cheapest alternative is a one-month subscription to HBO Max starting from £4.99 via the link at the bottom of this page. Additionally, Sky Entertainment customers can access HBO Max at no extra cost.
Why it’s not on YouTube: Unlike previous years, when BT Sport/TNT Sports streamed the final for free on YouTube or Discovery+, the broadcaster made the financial decision to continue with pay-per-view. TNT Sports is looking to maximize revenue while it still can, as it will lose its broadcast rights to Paramount starting with the 2027-28 season.
Political and fan backlash: The decision sparked widespread backlash from fans and politicians. Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized the move and wrote to TNT Sports saying loyal supporters should not have to pay to attend such an historic match. However, the government has no plans to make free broadcasting mandatory.
