The Champions League final is where football legends are born and their names etched into history. Zinedine Zidane, Lionel Messi and Steven Gerrard are all synonymous with outstanding performances that have led their teams to win European football’s top prize.

But predicting who will be this year’s big hero is not an easy task. Newly crowned Premier League champions Arsenal are aiming for a historic double, but their opponents could start building an overwhelming dynasty. PSG are the current European champions and aim to maintain their status by the time the final whistle blows at the Puskas Arena.

This year’s final, scheduled to kick off at 5pm in Budapest, will feature superstars vying for their place as football legends. Both sides will look to the amulet-wielding attackers to deliver supplies.

Is it time for Bukayo Saka to finally confirm his status as a world-class talent? Or will current Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele further cement his status as one of the best players in the world right now?

That’s hard to tell, so we’ve enlisted the help of EA Sports FC 26 to simulate the biggest games of the season.

Arsenal vs PSG simulated by EA FC 26 – Lineup

Ahead of kick-off, we brought in our latest squads to ensure the exact starting lineups for both teams. Arsenal used their usual 4-2-3-1 set-up, but PSG countered with a formidable 4-3-3 front line consisting of Dembele, Desiree Douye and Hviča Kvaratschelia.

Arsenal’s starting line-up is as follows: Raya. Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafioli. Rice, Zubimendi. Saka, Odegaard, Trossard, Gökeres.

PSG started the match as follows. Safonov. Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes. Zaire Emery, Vicinha, João Neves. Due, Dembele, Kvaratschelia.

tactical stalemate

However, the recent worrying trend of finals becoming “boring” continued despite the star-studded teams. EA FC 26 expected a tense battle of tactical will with just one shot fired throughout the 90 minutes, reported the Mirror.

The only attack came in the form of a speculative long-range attack from Julian Timber, who stole the ball. Arsenal dominated for much of the match, enjoying 60% possession, but were unable to create much of a threat to the PSG goal.

Both teams performed disastrously in the final third, and it took 100 minutes of boring football to get things going.

The drama at the end and the hero of an unlikely set piece

As extra-time approached, Gabriel Martinelli converted a golden opportunity to give Arsenal the lead. Moments later, David Raya denied Dembele from close range.

Much has been made of Arsenal’s free-kick and corner-kicking talent, but it was actually a dead-ball situation that clinched the draw.

But if that prophecy comes true in Budapest, Mikel Arteta will be tearing his hair out.

Despite being considerably shorter than Arsenal centre-halves William Saliba and Gabriel, the 5ft 9in Joao Neves rose to meet Demebre’s corner kick and headed it past a desperate Raya. It turned out to be expensive.

Arsenal tried their best against the French champions, but could not find the killer ball or the final result, and PSG achieved back-to-back Champions League titles. Will this be the beginning of a new era of dominance for PSG?

EA FC 26 expects the tactical chess match to ultimately be decided by a single set piece, but Arsenal fans will be hoping the real-life outcome is more in their favor.
