Tottenham have already reached an agreement in principle to sign Andy Robertson and are close to signing an experienced Premier League defender in a move for Bosman.
Tottenham are thought to be in pole position to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi when his contract expires, with negotiations currently at an advanced stage.
Senesi is poised to become the latest player to move from Bournemouth after an impressive spell on the south coast, with the 29-year-old having a number of Premier League hopefuls. The Cherries, who announced Senesi’s departure earlier this month, will likely play against Argentina next season while Senesi remains in England.
BBC Sport reported that the centre-half’s deal with Tottenham is “moving towards completion”, although personal terms have not yet been fully agreed.
Senesi is said to have rejected three contract offers from Bournemouth, who called off attempts to retain the former Feyenoord defender when he began talks with overseas clubs.
However, Senesi now appears to be the most likely destination for Spurs, as they look to strengthen their squad after retaining their Premier League status on the final day of the season.
The signing of Senesi follows reports that Andy Robertson is ready to move from Liverpool to Tottenham and is preparing for a move for Bosman this summer.
The 32-year-old made his last appearance for Liverpool on the final day of the season and has already reached an agreement in principle to join Spurs, who tried to sign him during the winter transfer window.
Robertson ended up staying despite Tottenham and Liverpool reaching an agreement for the veteran left-back, but it looks like the north Londoner is intent on achieving his goal at the second try, despite reported interest from Juventus.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last week, Tottenham’s chief executive Vinay Venkatesham hinted that the club wanted experienced talent as they aim to return to the Premier League’s upper echelons under manager Roberto De Zerbi, with his April appointment proving to be the trigger for safety.
“The team needs work but they don’t have the right balance,” Venkatesham told BBC Sounds.
“To play in the most demanding league that exists, you need experience and leadership and that kind of physical strength as well.
“We need to strengthen the club over multiple transfer windows, but this one will be particularly important.”
