Radio presenter and former footballer Alan Brazil has provided a video update on his health after undergoing life-saving surgery and hinted at when he could return to talkSPORT.
Alan Brazil’s health is beginning to “rapidly improve” after undergoing life-saving surgery. The talkSPORT presenter admitted that “he almost died” before NHS staff performed the miracle and that he was a “lucky boy”.
The station also vowed to return to radio in the coming weeks, enjoying the sunshine of the Bank Holiday weekend in Suffolk. The 66-year-old, who has been a mainstay on the show since its inception in 2000, has been absent from his usual breakfast slot, leaving fans wondering about his status following his absence from Cheltenham Festival.
The former Ipswich Town and Tottenham ace revealed he underwent surgery earlier this month. Brazil lost significant weight during his time away from competition.
“Hey guys, how’s it going?” the Brazilian posted on Instagram. “It’s been a great day, it’s been a great weekend, I hope you’re just lying in the sun and enjoying it.
“As you can see, I’m starting to get better quickly. This is great news. I don’t mind telling you this because I almost died.

“But listen, what happened is a miracle. The NHS, it’s amazing. I can’t thank the people of Cambridge enough. They saved my life. But I’m on the road to recovery. I’m sure I’m on the road to recovery.”

Colleagues at Brazilian talkSPORT showed overwhelming support for him following his public message. Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara said: “I can’t wait for the big legend to come back.”
