The final day of the Premier League will take place this weekend, but organizers are closely monitoring the weather forecast ahead of potential changes to the matchday schedule.
Amid the intense heat, there is a possibility that water will be temporarily cut off on the final day of the Premier League season. The UK has been blessed with spectacular weather over the past few days, with thermometers reaching 30 degrees in some parts of the country.
And while many are enjoying the weather, Premier League bosses may consider changing the rules for the second half to ensure player safety. According to Sky Sports, there could be a mandatory drinks break on the final day of the campaign if temperatures rise above 30 degrees before kick-off.
All games on the final day of the campaign will be played on Sunday at 4 p.m. Much is at stake, including a spot in Europe and the final relegation position.
This is not the first time drinks breaks have been seen in the Premier League. These were introduced during the postponed 2019/20 season, with games played in the summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Water outages were also seen at the beginning of the 2022/23 season. Either way, one of the teams who will enjoy the final day will be recent champions Arsenal.
The Gunners will travel to Selhurst Park and lift the trophy at the end of the game. Mikel Arteta said in the pre-match press conference: “We have 48 hours to enjoy the success of winning the league.
“Now, we’re going to prepare really well for tomorrow and Saturday, because now we have to raise again the habits and standards that we normally do to do the best possible way for the game.
“On Sunday we will have a little window there again to celebrate, to lift the trophy in the way we deserve and to connect with those who have always been around us. But then we will have six days to make history at this football club.”
This weekend is also significant for manager Josep Guardiola, who is set to take charge of his final game as Manchester City manager. And although the Spaniard won’t be able to win another Premier League title, he will be confident of his side putting on a show, claiming their performance has improved in the warmer months.
“It’s the sun,” Guardiola said after the win against Chelsea earlier this season. “I’m not kidding. It’s the sun. There’s no sun in Manchester. If the sun had come in November, we would have been champions in January. To be honest, the atmosphere was better.”
