RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande is a target for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window as the Reds search the market for a replacement for departed Mo Salah.
Liverpool have surpassed Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Yann Diomand. However, if RB Leipzig decide to let him go, they will demand a staggering £87m.
Diomande, 19, enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough season at Leipzig after joining from Spanish side Leganes in July 2025. The winger, who can play on both sides of the attack, finished the season with 13 goals and nine assists in 36 Bundesliga games.
In addition to his achievements at club level, Diomande represented Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations mid-season. His appearance sparked interest from across Europe, including both Liverpool and PSG.
The Athletic reports that Liverpool are looking for a successor to manager Mo Salah and are in a favorable position to sign Diomande. Leipzig will demand £87m for his contract, but they hope to keep him for another season after qualifying for the Champions League.

If Liverpool decide to act in their interests, Anfield’s leaders are expected to begin negotiations with their opponents at the Red Bull Arena. However, PSG would have to sell players to sign Diomande, and there may be other options for the wide forward.
The Ivorian is under contract until June 2030, but admits he was “motivated” by links to big-money moves. “Imagine when people say you are going to Chelsea or Real Madrid (as an example of a big club) to do this job… you will be happy and motivated to do more,” Diomande said earlier this month.
“I don’t think about it too much because my focus is on the pitch and my job is to play football and that takes care of everything, but it’s a big motivation to see people talking about me.”

But Leipzig chairman and Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff intends to keep him around at least until next summer. “If I were athletic director, I wouldn’t sell this young player who hasn’t played a full season with the team yet,” Mintzlaff recently declared.
“Whatever price is offered. I think he’s a player who still has room to grow because he’s still very young. He definitely has the potential to become even more valuable.”
