Marcus Rashford has been advised to put himself first this summer and do everything possible to remain at Barcelona. Rashford beat Barça manager Hansi Flick this season and helped them win the La Liga title with a free-kick in El Clasico earlier this month.
Barça are looking to reduce the forward’s price, despite United making it abundantly clear that they are not interested in negotiating a reduction in the £26m agreed price. This means the forward could go into the World Cup summer with his future at the club uncertain, as he still has two years left on the five-year contract he signed with United in July 2023.
And former Reds captain Patrice Evra is at Old Trafford.would be happy to see the England international return, but recognizes that he should remain at Barça.
“I love Marcus (Rashford). You know there’s no lies in his body language. He’s happy now,” he said via Stake. “He wasn’t in Manchester so there are things you have to prioritize.
“When you have to work, you have to perform, but happiness is really important and for me that’s what I see when he’s at Barcelona. He wants to stay.
“I spoke to Marcus, I think it was six years ago, and he said: ‘Patrice, your heart is telling you to stay at Man United, but your heart is telling you to leave.’
“He is still a Mancunian, but he should prioritize his football career and enjoy his football at Barcelona. He should stay there. But I also want Marcus to come back to Man Utd.”
“In my selfish, personal opinion, don’t come back to Man Utd. I want you to stay somewhere you’re happy. I know the price for Marcus for Barcelona will be a robbery in broad daylight. They’ll definitely pay less than he’s worth.”
Echoing Evra’s sentiments on Rashford’s valuation, Arsenal’s invincible Ray Parler said: “I think there’s a clause in his contract, like £26m?
“If we can get the right Marcus Rashford back, that’s a bargain. Every player costs £60m or £70m now, so if we can get the best out of him over the next few years…and he’s not that old, right?
“So he still has a lot of years left with the way he carries himself now. For £26m it will be interesting to see what happens.”
“I think some clubs will look at him – maybe Premier League clubs would like to bring him back – because for that amount of money it’s not an expensive gamble.
“Well, gambling is a paycheck, just imagine. I don’t know if Marcus would consider taking a pay cut, but if he did, a lot of clubs would be on board head-on.
“He’s earned money over the years with his previous contracts. Sometimes you just want to finish your career well and have the best opportunity to win trophies without worrying about money. If he has that mentality we could definitely see him back in the Premier League.”
