Manchester City believe the signing of Elliott Anderson will not influence manager Pep Guardiola’s decisions regarding his future, as Manchester United are also eyeing the midfielder.
Manchester City are confident the signing of Elliott Anderson will not be affected by Josep Guardiola’s departure, with the midfielder remaining a long-term target.
The England star has continued to excel since joining Nottingham Forest from Newcastle. He has been a shining presence at the City Ground and transfer talks have been linked with a £100m price tag, with the midfielder potentially seeing his stock rise even further at this summer’s World Cup.
City are fans and Bernardo Silva will likely leave this summer. Mr Anderson has been appointed as his successor and talks are underway to move to Etihad Airways.
iPaper report that Anderson’s deal is well advanced and that Guardiola’s widely reported but unconfirmed possible departure will not affect the move. Manchester United will be serious about signing the midfielder, but he may not be available.

That’s because City have taken pole position, but equally because the price on offer is more than the Red Devils would be willing to pay for one player, given that they want to sign two new midfielders.
Despite the wealth that could come from a potential sale, Forest manager Vitor Pereira insists he wants to keep his star man. “I don’t have an answer,” he said. “The market is the market and anything can happen. All I can say is that the club definitely wants to keep him playing for us.”
He continued: “The club wants to keep almost all the players because this is a very good group with quality and character and we have a very good foundation for next season.”
Manchester’s blue side have transformed their squad admirably thanks to 18 months of astute reinforcements. They have now set their sights on a right-back. They are interested in Brentford’s Michael Cayode, who was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Year award earlier this month.
Longer term, it is understood that Bournemouth junior Eli Crupi, who is not on sale until 2027, has been identified as a future target. They recently raided the Cherries and signed Antoine Semenyo, who played a key role in winning a double domestic cup.
