Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Morgan Gibbs-White are among the biggest casualties. Reports on Thursday night suggested Ebelesi Eze has been selected ahead of the trio, with Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rodgers also expected to be named in Tuchel’s squad on Friday.

Both Palmer and Foden have had mixed seasons, with their bright moments often dwarfed by absences due to injury or poor performance.

However, Gibbs-White has been a mainstay for Nottingham Forest. His 14 goals and four assists in the Premier League have kept him in the league, so it’s no wonder he feels disrespected.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire, Adam Wharton, Jarrod Bowen, Luke Shaw and Lewis Hall are expected to miss out on the trip to the US.

According to various reports, Ivan Toney, Noni Madueke, Anthony Gordon, Jordan Henderson, Dan Byrne, Jarrell Quansah and John Stones will feature.

What do you think? Did Tuchel make the right decision to leave out big names like Foden, Palmer and Gibbs-White? Please vote in the poll below. Let us know what you think in the comments section.

As always, the England squad’s announcement will spark much debate. But it’s rare that so many big names, with big moments, are overlooked at a World Cup.

Many of England’s rivals would be delighted to build their squad around Foden and Palmer. But instead, Tuchel chose to go in a different direction.

Only time will tell whether his selection will be justified or whether 60 years will pass without a World Cup victory since that famous 1966 triumph.

Tuchel risked his beliefs. The former Chelsea manager clearly has no time for reputation and doesn’t care about public opinion.

No matter the outcome, he risked it all.
