Laura Woods was celebrating Arsenal’s first Premier League win since 2004 on Tuesday, but took time to respond to rival fans on social media.
Laura Woods has hit back at claims that Arsenal are the “worst champions” in recent Premier League history. The Gunners were crowned champions on Tuesday after title rivals Manchester City dropped points to Bournemouth.
City needed a win to stay in the race until the final day, but Josep Guardiola’s side could only manage a 1-1 draw. Arsenal are no longer top of the table and will lift the trophy after Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace.
Fans like TV presenter Woods had to wait 22 years to see the Gunners win the Premier League title again, but she marked the achievement with a post on X. “Amazing,” she wrote. “Arsenal – Premier League Champions.”
However, not everyone was impressed with their victory, with their playing style being compared to Wimbledon’s “Crazy Gang” of the 1980s and 1990s. A Chelsea supporter replied to Woods, writing: “Worst champion in years. Just saying.”

In response, Woods responded, “No one cares about the other person,” and the team pointed out, “You’ve responded well enough. This is modern-day Wimbledon.”
Woods stopped the conversation there, but later in the evening he re-shared a post from an Arsenal fan congratulating him. She also posted a childhood photo of herself wearing an Arsenal shirt on Instagram.
“It was always Arsenal,” she added. The post also included a photo of him meeting Mikel Arteta.
Many other famous fans joined in the celebration on social media. Legendary manager Arsene Wenger wrote on X: “You did it. Champions keep going when others stop. It’s your time. Go on and enjoy every moment.”

Prime Minister and Arsenal fan Sir Keir Starmer added: “It’s been a long 22 years for Arsenal, but finally we’re back where we belong – champions!”
Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman wrote: “Premier League Champions!!! What a moment!!! What a season!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing! Longest (22 years and) three minutes of my life…”
Piers Morgan added: “This is Arteta’s moment. Yes, the team was great. Yes, the fans were amazing. Yes, the club’s owner stepped up big last summer.”
“But it was this man’s vision, intensity, intelligence, courage and determination that won the league. Thank you @m8arteta.”
