Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City side face Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, with 90 minutes left of another major honour.

Man City manager Josep Guardiola could win another big honor today

Josep Guardiola has admitted that collecting so many trophies as Manchester City manager was “a hell of a lot of fun”.

Guardiola has dominated English football over the past decade, winning 19 trophies since taking over as City manager in 2016. That includes six league titles and the 2023 Treble.

He will aim to add the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup he has already hidden away this season, as City face Chelsea in a high-profile final at Wembley on Saturday. And it is claimed that Guardiola liked to build up a vast collection of silverware to strengthen his claim as the greatest manager of all time.

Asked whether his success was proof of his greatness, Guardiola said: “Of course, winning 19 titles in 10 years is not bad.

“They know (the supporters). They don’t have to wait until it’s time for me to leave. They know I had fun. I had a hell of a lot of fun.”

This marks a record fourth successive final for City and the 24th time Guardiola has led his team to Wembley.

And despite Guardiola being desperate to avoid an unwanted hat-trick in the final, he admits he will never tire of going to one of the world’s most iconic stadiums.

That’s why he thinks some of them should be named after him.

Guardiola, who could bring Ballon d’Or winner Rodri back into the team, said: “I’m definitely excited. I hope we can do better than last time.”

“This is a new game against Chelsea and of course we will try to lift the trophy.

“It’s such a shame that they didn’t take Pep’s stand even though I’ve been there so many times! At least a lounge or a box.

“It was a special place. It was great to be at Wembley again. Everything was so nice. The pitch was exceptional. I hope it’s a good day.”
