Pierrot Hincapie’s first season as an Arsenal player could end in history with the Gunners just three wins away from winning the Premier League and Champions League double.

Pierrot Hincapie insists the entire dressing room is dreaming of completing the historic double.

Arsenal face Burnley on Monday and are just two wins away from winning the Premier League for the first time in 22 years as they face Crystal Palace on the final day of the season. They will then face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday, May 30th.

Arsenal had never won the European Cup before and Hincapie said he wanted to achieve a clean sweep after a fantastic season that saw them on the brink of great success.

Gunners defender Hincapie said: “I feel that excitement for the club as well. On a personal level, it’s also important to win championships in your first season.”

“It would bring immense happiness and it would be crazy for me as well. But the truth is that it is a very great moment as the club is about to reach the Champions League final and be two games away from the Premier League title.”

“There was something very exciting in the dressing room and there was also a strong desire to win everything. But as I say, it’s always one step at a time, one game at a time and we want to give joy to the club and all the fans.”

“Actually, I see a lot of happiness and I’m very, very excited for the upcoming games. We’ve worked hard all season and, well, I hope we’re happy at the end of the season.”

Hincapie, 24, already knows what it feels like to win a title having previously won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. His experience and know-how have inspired him to aim for further success at Arsenal, and he is one of the few players in the team who has a sense of winning titles.

He still has a season-long loan left at Arsenal, but his contract with Arsenal is set to become permanent after being so successful in his first season. But Hincapie said he also felt great support from the fans to help his team get over the line, as they are in a tight race for the title with Manchester City.

“In a positive way, I think they’re even more motivated to win a title given what happened this past season,” Hincapie said.

“As I always say, they are the ones who support us everywhere and always, and it will be a great gift to everyone who has fought for this dream over the years, and to the fans as well.”

Hincapie also said Mikel Arteta has been crucial in helping him find his footing at his new club this season. The experience was “very good,” he said.

“From the beginning he has always supported me in everything. As I said before, this is a new club with a new league, new experience and players of a very high level. And he is always available to help us.”

It was a big culture change for the Ecuadorian international, who says it took him some time to recover, but he is now a crowd favorite with his tenacious defense and decisiveness.

“Obviously it was a little different when I arrived. It’s obviously difficult for a new club to adapt from the start to a new league that’s very different to the league we’ve been in before.”

“But I think we did it in the best way. We worked hard for it and that’s why we’re here.”

Hincapie is also looking forward to this summer’s World Cup and is part of the Ecuadorian squad, which is seen as a dark horse alongside Moises Caicedo, another of Chelsea’s standout stars. But his priority is success at Arsenal.

He added: “During this period, there has been very little talk about this because it is true that we still have a long way to go before the World Cup.”
