Liverpool are eyeing a new centre-back this summer, but face competition for Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi, who has reportedly already agreed a personal deal with Tottenham.
Liverpool will need to act quickly if they want to sign Marcos Senesi as a free agent when he leaves Bournemouth. The Cherries confirmed on Friday that the centre-back will leave the club when his contract expires this summer. And there is no doubt that there will be a lot of interest in the Argentine national team player.
Senesi has been outstanding for Andoni Iraola’s side this season, making 37 appearances in all competitions. He has helped Bournemouth climb to sixth place in the Premier League and with two games remaining they have a good chance of securing next season’s European football.
However, the 29-year-old has rejected multiple offers for a new contract from Bournemouth and, like Iraola, will leave the club this summer. Liverpool are also one of the clubs rumored to be in the hunt for Senesi, but it has been reported that Tottenham have snatched a point from their rivals.
According to talkSPORT, Senesi has agreed personal terms with Spurs and will move to north London if they avoid relegation. Tottenham are unbeaten in their last four games and sit two points above West Ham in the final relegation zone heading into the weekend’s penultimate game.

Liverpool are looking to sign a centre-back this summer, with Joe Gomez’s future uncertain and Ibrahima Konate yet to sign a new contract. Captain Virgil van Dijk is now 34 years old and they still need new players, despite the £60m signing of Jeremy Jaquet from Rennes being put on hold after Giovanni Leoni suffered a season-ending knee injury shortly after joining last summer.
Senesi is a cornerstone of Bournemouth’s rise up the table in 2026, having kept 11 clean sheets alongside James Hill during their current 16-game unbeaten run. He joined from Feyenoord in 2022 and has appeared in a total of 124 games for the club.
“From the first day I arrived, I felt like this club was home,” Senesi said on the club’s website. “I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished over the past four years and grateful for the support our fans have always given me.
“AFC Bournemouth will always have a special place in my heart and I will look back on my time here with fond memories. There are still two big games left in the season so far and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together.”
