Brazilian superstar Casemiro, who has left football, believes Manchester United have problems – as Michael Carrick is not as well-known as other managers – but deserves the job on a permanent basis
Casemiro has told the Manchester United bosses to give Michael Carrick the full-time managerial job.
Carrick has been a revelation since taking over as caretaker manager, replacing the sacked Ruben Amorim. He led United to 12 wins out of 17 games, qualifying for the Champions League with just two defeats.
Club leaders will make a decision after the season ends. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe knows he needs the right people as soon as possible so the new manager can start planning for next season.
United are still considering all available options, with Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann and Andoni Iraola also being discussed. However, Casemiro appeared on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube Channel and said Carrick was causing problems for the club’s leadership. That’s because Mr. Carrick has done more than enough to earn himself the job ahead of other high-profile candidates.

The Brazilian superstar will leave Old Trafford in the summer but has urged United to hand over the job to Carrick. “This is a big issue because he deserves to stay. He deserves to stay,” he said.
“The team is playing very well (under Coach Carrick). He’s going to win any game. The team is getting better every day. The team is getting better every game.”
“So, for me, this is a big deal, because in my opinion, he deserves this opportunity. He deserves that opportunity. Because the team is very comfortable. The team is playing very well. We have a big win, a big win. So, to me, he deserved this opportunity.”
Casemiro compared Carrick’s man management to that of Italian back-to-back champion Carlo Ancelotti.
He added: “For me, he plays at this level. He knows what the players are feeling. Ancelotti, he is a great manager because he understands. He played. He knows what the players need to hear and he pushes, but he also knows when to push.”
“The best thing for me is that he knows about the club. He understands the club. So for me he deserves it. Definitely, in my opinion, he should stay.”
