James Madison endured a nightmare outing in Seoul against Newcastle on Sunday.
Thomas Frank revealed that James Madison appears to have suffered a “bad” knee injury again after reaching into Seoul. The Spurs midfielder was injured late in Korea and was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches.
Medical staff were rushing to treat a former Leicester man who was clearly struggling. Madison then stretched and Frank revealed that he had aggravated a knee injury that he saw his season end prematurely last season.
After his team’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle, he said: “We’re sure he’s the same knee he’s injured previously.”
Madison’s injuries were not the only headline from Spurs’ latest pre-season outing. The game could also represent the final match of his son Heung Min against his North London side.
He confirmed his desire to leave the club this summer in an emotional press conference before Sunday’s game. With that announcement and Madison’s injury, Frank added:

“So I think what happened to the crazy person was cruel. It looks like a bad injury. Of course, we don’t know exactly what the status of it is. It didn’t look good.
“And on the other side, the incredibly beautiful scene with Sony and his teammates, a huge respect from Newcastle, can’t be praised enough from players on the pitch.
“Later scenes, when I first walked around (the pitch), and then his teammates gathered around him and I found him very emotional, and I just said a few things.

The Spurs certainly hope that Madison’s injuries aren’t as bad as they initially feared. If so, it can push them back into the transfer market for recruits.
The North London side has previously activated the release clause written in Morgan Gibbs White’s Nottingham Forest contract. However, he ultimately chose to sign a new contract at City Grounds.
Frank’s side will be re-active next weekend as they will face Vandesliga Giants Bayern Munich in their final preseason match. They then dominate European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup. Spurs will get a new campaign in the home soil against the newly promoted Burnley within two weeks.
