Mikel Arteta sends clear message to Marcus Rashford amid transfer rumors | Soccer | Sports

Arsenal could move even closer to making a reported move for Marcus Rashford if the Gunners end the campaign with a big-money move. The North London outfit are just three games away from winning the Premier League and Champions League double.

Such success could be attractive to Rashford. According to the Daily Mail, the Barcelona loanee is said to be being “monitored” by Mikel Arteta’s side and is looking to fill the left wing position. With his future at Manchester United uncertain, Rashford has been vocal about his ambitions to win trophies and the Gunners are ideally placed to fulfill that desire.

The 28-year-old has already collected two pieces of silverware during his time in Spain, with Barça’s 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Sunday making them La Liga champions. Upon arriving in Catalonia last summer, the England international immediately expressed his determination to succeed, saying: “I want to win the biggest trophies and Barcelona is a huge club in football so I feel it’s the perfect place.”

“As you can see from last season’s team, they have a young and ambitious team and I want to add my qualities, my personality to improve the team and help them win. It’s a club where people’s dreams come true and where they win big prizes, and what the club stands for really means a lot to me.”

Before winning his first league title, Rashford had already won Spain’s Supercopa in January after Barca won 3-2 against Madrid. At the time, he was candid about his desire to win a major honor, saying: “This is my first trophy (at Barça) and it’s always a great feeling to win your first trophy.”

“Now I hope we get a few more wins. I hope it’s not the last. It was a great performance and this is what we can do. There are still things to improve on, but today we can enjoy the moment.”If the Gunners end the season with a silver medal, it could be the ideal next chapter for Rashford. The Spanish giants hold a £26m option to buy him outright, but the club are instead looking to renegotiate his clause or arrange a further loan period.

Beyond Arsenal’s ability to bring trophies to the table, the family-oriented culture that Arteta has fostered at the Emirates Stadium could similarly attract Rashford, who emphasized Barça’s cohesiveness when he joined the club. At the time of the announcement, he added: “My preferences were clear from the beginning.

“January didn’t go so well for me, so I went to Aston Villa and had a good spell there. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to play there. The summer has passed quickly and it’s time to make new decisions. My choice was easy. This is a family club and one that I’m familiar with from the past.” In 47 appearances in all competitions this season, with three games remaining, Rashford has an impressive tally of 14 goals and 14 assists.
