TalkSPORT host Alan Brazil has provided an update on his health via his social media channels, revealing that he recently underwent life-saving surgery. The host was absent from his regular breakfast show morning slot due to ongoing health issues.

The 66-year-old former Ipswich Town and Tottenham Hotspur star has been a mainstay of the program since its inception in 2000. However, his absence from the Cheltenham Festival left fans wondering where he was after the show’s opening day presentation.

In a statement shared on social media, Brazil wrote: “Hey everyone, I hope you’re well. Some of you may have noticed I’m missing.

“I recently underwent life-saving surgery and am deeply grateful to the excellent medical team that cared for me. It will take some time for me to come back to my senses, but I am now privately focused on my recovery.”

“Thank you to my family and close people for supporting/putting up with me! See you soon (biceps emoji) AL.”

Brazil has battled several health issues this year, missing two weeks of shows in February 2026 due to an ear infection.

After returning home, the Glaswegian said: “The big news this morning is that I’m alive and well. I’ve never received so many texts and emails asking, ‘Are you okay? Are you dead? Are you going to die?'” Please take a break. to be honest. That was my ear. I had a major infection in my right ear and my left ear was clogged. I was sitting here thinking I was going to fall off my chair.

“It’s the worst ever. It’s the worst. The[studio]lights are useless. I told them to dim the lights and they didn’t listen? Stupid.”

Fans were also surprised by how much weight Brazil had lost in recent months after returning to broadcasting after a brief absence.

One viewer wrote: “What kind of diet was Alan on? Looks like he’s lost a lot of weight. I hope he’s okay.” Another added: “Brazil has lost a lot of weight so he might have to change his name to Alan Paraguay.”

A third wrote: “Alan looks the healthiest person I’ve ever seen,” while a fourth wrote: “Just realized how much weight Alan Brazil has lost, wow.”
