Manchester United are looking ahead to a crucial summer for the club. It will be a busy but important month or two, from deciding the next full-time manager to the club’s transfer operations.

However, with his contract expected to increase by 25% on the back of a Champions League appearance, United’s hierarchy will have to make some difficult decisions. Express Sport has picked out a number of players who could be heading into their final weeks as United players.

It’s a good and easy game to start with, considering Casemiro’s departure from United is already confirmed. Despite the best efforts of some United fans to keep him, the midfielder is set to leave at the end of the season.

Tom Heaton’s current spell at United began in 2021 and he has been one of the back-up goalkeepers ever since. His current contract is set to expire next month but could still be granted a renewal.

do you remember him? Tyrell Malasia’s last appearance for United was in March when he made a six-minute cameo off the bench against Newcastle. He still has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him move sooner.

Things did not go well for Manuel Ugarte, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain with high expectations. He is not liked by manager Michael Carrick and Casemiro’s departure should see more minutes in his position, but United are thought to be targeting several midfielders in the summer.

Speaking of players who made an immediate impression but didn’t live up to the hype, Joshua Zirkzee’s debut goal in the opening game of the 2024/25 season against Fulham now feels like a distant memory. The Dutchman has been linked with a return to Serie A, where he impressed at Bologna, and it will come as no shock that Zirksee is among the five players who could leave United in the summer.
