Arsenal are preparing to revamp their squad in the summer transfer window

Arsenal are in for an interesting summer as the transfer window approaches. The Gunners have already assembled a squad that can challenge on several fronts, with Mikel Arteta’s side aiming to end the campaign with silverware.

Last summer, Arsenal took a big step towards adding depth to their squad, naming Victor Gokeres and Ebelesi Eze as potential signings. The club has once again entered the transfer market with the aim of remaining in contention for major honours.

However, this move to hire new talent could push those on the team’s fringes further down the rankings. Several players could see their time at the club come to an end this summer as the Gunners move closer to winning the Premier League title.

With only a few games left, some Arsenal players may be wearing the shirt for the last time under Arteta. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the stars who may be headed for the exits this summer without ever appearing again.

Christian Norgaard

Christian Norgaard arrived last summer as a veteran player to strengthen midfield options, but the former Brentford man has found first-team opportunities difficult to come by. All six of his Premier League games have featured as substitutes, with Arteta firmly placing his faith in his favorite partnership of Declan Rice and Martin Zvimendi.

The 32-year-old has remained in the spotlight following Mikel Merino’s injury, with Myles Lewis-Skelly given a starting place against Fulham last weekend. With so little game time, Norgaard could choose to leave the Gunners to pursue regular first-team football.

Ethan Nwaneri

The talented teenager sought a temporary move from Arsenal in January. Nwaneri started four games for the Gunners in the first half of the season before joining up with Marseille.

The 19-year-old quickly distinguished himself at the French club, finding the back of the net on his debut. Some Arsenal supporters initially feared the club had made a mistake in sanctioning Nwaneri’s departure, as both Martin Odegaard and Eze were battling fitness issues.

Since then, the midfielder’s development has stalled due to a change of manager at Marseille. But Nwaneri may still try to secure a permanent move elsewhere if his prospects of breaking into Arteta’s first-team plans next season show no signs of improving.

Fabio Vieira

Fabio Vieira has not worn an Arsenal shirt since April 2024. The 25-year-old joined from Porto on a long-term deal in 2022 and has since made 49 appearances for the Gunners.

He has spent the past two seasons away from the club and is currently on loan at Hamburg. The midfielder has established himself as a key figure in the German national team and his loan deal includes a £17.3m buy-out option that could be triggered this summer.

Jakub Kiviol

Jakub Kivioglu looks set to continue his new adventure at Porto after completing a loan move last summer. The 26-year-old defender made 68 appearances during his two-and-a-half year spell with the Gunners.

Kivior’s move to Porto included a buyout, and he has since made 38 appearances in all competitions, winning the Primeira Liga title.

Reese Nelson

If he returns from his loan spell at Brentford, the Arsenal academy player will be entering the final year of his contract. The 26-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season, making just 13 appearances for the Bees.

Brentford retain the option to make the move permanent if Nelson performs well enough to impress manager Keith Andrews. The midfielder made his lone appearance for Arsenal last season before moving to Fulham on another provisional deal.
