Liverpool are in the market for a new right-winger with Mohamed Salah set to leave the club at the end of the season, but Michael Owen has suggested Jarrod Bowen could be an ideal candidate to replace him.
Michael Owen has called on Liverpool to bring in West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen to replace Mohamed Salah, admitting: “I think he’s great.”
The Reds are looking for a new right-winger, with Salah set to leave the club at the end of the season. The 33-year-old Egyptian, who has scored 257 goals in 440 appearances since joining from Roma in 2017, announced in March that he would be leaving Anfield this summer after nine years.
And Bowen has been emerged as a potential candidate to replace Salah at Liverpool. The 29-year-old England international has made 35 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season, scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists.

Bowen has delivered consistently for the Hammers since joining from Hull City in 2020 and former Reds striker Owen believes he is the closest option to replace Salah.
When asked if he would welcome Bowen to Liverpool, Owen told talkSPORT: “How do you know? I said that to some mates the other day, and I said, if I had one player, I would. Obviously, Jarrod Bowen is a legendary player. West Ham, as you know, adore this guy and rightly so.”
“But if West Ham lose, he’ll be perfect for me. I think he’s a really great player. I was lucky enough to do something like a masterclass in batting on the TV show I did last season with him, and it was unbelievable. To be honest, left foot, right foot, bang, bang, corner, pace. I mean, a real top finisher.”
“I think he’s a great player. I’m going to take him to the World Cup and, like I say, I don’t want to upset the West Ham fans, but he’s my idea of a replacement for Salah if they go down.”
Bowen could be acquired at a discount if West Ham are eliminated from the Premier League. The Hammers are the bookmakers’ favorites to be relegated from the Championship after Nuno Espirito Santo’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat at Brentford and Tottenham’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa dropped them into the relegation zone.
The former Hereford man scored 84 goals in 277 appearances for the Hammers during his time at the London Stadium and is expected to attract significant interest in his role this summer.
Bowen is set to celebrate his 30th birthday in December but still has four years left on his contract with West Ham and could be signed for around £30m this summer. It represents great value for the Reds and could prove to be smart business as they aim to challenge for the title again next season.
