Brailsford reduced his involvement at United last year but remained on the club’s board. However, it has now been confirmed that he has left the club permanently.

Mr Brailsfield, 62, was heavily involved in establishing the new management team behind the scenes at Old Trafford, including the hiring of chief executive Omar Berrada.

Brailsford spent a year as United’s head of football operations despite having no previous football experience.
