Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz appear to be making light of David Beckham’s birthday amid ongoing family rifts. The England and Manchester United icon celebrated his 51st birthday on Saturday, with a host of celebrities and former team-mates paying tribute to him.
This came after the son made explosive statements earlier this year about not wanting to reconcile with his parents. Victoria Beckham led the tributes and wishes for her husband, while his other two sons, Cruise and Romeo, and daughter Harper, celebrated his father’s birthday.
The family has been in turmoil for over a year after Brooklyn and Nicola’s falling out. Earlier this year, Brooklyn released a lengthy statement condemning his family, particularly his mother’s behavior at his and Nicola’s wedding. Despite the ongoing rift, the messages kept coming in as the Spice Girls kicked off the celebrations.
Posh Spice has shared a series of photos on social media of Beckham preparing a meal on his 51st birthday with his loved ones on the eve of his birthday. She shared some of her favorite memories with her husband, whom she married in 1999. That included a blunder in which she shared her husband’s hair when the blade fell off while shaving, while the 52-year-old left little to the imagination when she shared a photo of David boarding a boat with only a red budgie smuggler on board.
She shared a video of the former Three Lions captain opening a box of six chickens, one of the gifts he received. “You are our world and our everything. We love you so much!!! Happy Birthday to the best husband, dad, son, brother and friend. To the kindest and most generous soul. We will spoil you all day long!!!! No one deserves it more than you.”
Victoria reiterated in April that she and David have “always tried to be the best parents.” “We’ve always felt that way. We love our kids so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for over 30 years now, and all we’ve ever strived for is to protect our kids and love our kids.”
Romeo posted a photo of the two of them with the caption, “Happy birthday dad, I love you so much, and thank you for everything.” This was followed by another post from the pair that read: “My best mates.” Cruise and Harper have both posted their own stories as well, and Beckham’s youngest son’s message was especially poignant.
“Happy Birthday to the best dad in the whole world. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better role model. You’re always here for me and I’m always here for you no matter where you are. Have the best day ever. You deserve everything.”
It was a particularly frustrating day on the football pitch as Class of 92 owners Salford City missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of the League Two season. They were unable to finish in 3rd place, which was the first time in their history that they would have been promoted to the 3rd division.
There will be more action on David’s birthday as Inter Miami take on Orlando SC in an MLS derby match. The reigning champions could move into first place with a win, but they will face a huge swing in goal difference if they are to overwhelm Nashville SC at the top.
