Mykhailo Mudryk was suspended by the FA in December 2024 after failing a drug test.
Mykhailo Mudryk has referred his doping case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and appealed against the FA’s four-year suspension. The Chelsea winger was suspended by the FA in December 2024 after failing a drugs test.
Football.london reports that an appeal has now been lodged and the matter has been handed over to CAS, where “written submissions” have been exchanged. A hearing has yet to be arranged, but it is understood Chelsea will allow the legal process to be fully completed before deciding on the next steps.
The Ukrainian winger last wore a Blues shirt in November 2024 in the UEFA Conference League, before his on-field appearances ended abruptly due to “adverse findings in a routine urine test”.
At the time, an FA spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with an anti-doping rule violation alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance under Articles 3 and 4 of the FA Anti-Doping Rules.”

“As this is an ongoing incident, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
Mudryk, who was formally charged by the FA in June 2025, is awaiting the outcome of both the lawsuit and the appeal. If he violates anti-doping regulations, he could be suspended for up to four years.
In a statement released in 2024, Mudryk described his failed drug test as a “complete shock” and insisted he had “done nothing wrong”. Chelsea have launched their own internal investigation and have refused to allow the 25-year-old to train with the first team since his initial suspension.
Mudryk joined Chelsea in 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth up to £89 million. In 73 appearances, the winger scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists.
Since his suspension, the 25-year-old has largely stayed out of the spotlight, training away from his current squad to maintain his fitness.
We have contacted both the FA and CAS for comment on this matter.
