Bournemouth stunned Arsenal earlier this month to seal a big win in the title race, but Tyler Adams says the Cherries may have sensed the nervous energy of the home fans early on.

Tyler Adams says Bournemouth players could feel the nervous energy at the Emirates in recent wins

Tyler Adams says Bournemouth were encouraged by the nerves of the home crowd during their recent 2-1 win away to Arsenal.

The Cherries kicked off their title race a week and a half ago with goals from Eli Crupi Junior and Alex Scott overcoming Arsenal to give Andoni Iraola’s side a famous victory. Arsenal have since suffered two consecutive Premier League defeats at the hands of Manchester City, all but erasing their lead at the top of the table over their title rivals.

Adams spoke about the atmosphere at the Emirates amid talk of Arsenal potentially ruining their best chance to win their first domestic title in more than 20 years.

“You could tell early on that there was some tension when they tried to play from the back,” the U.S. player said on the Men in Blazers Media Network.

“One small mistake or mistake can make the fans a little nervous.

“It’s a difficult atmosphere to play in and grow in when you’re trying to chase a championship, because we talk about them as if they’re not already sitting in first place in the standings.”

“As an opposition party, that’s the best thing to hear.”

Manchester City face relegation-threatened Burnley on Wednesday night with a great chance to level with Arsenal on points and potentially catch them on goal difference.

Immediately after Sunday’s match, Declan Rice was seen telling his Arsenal team-mates that the title race is “not over” and Josep Guardiola said he loved the message from the England midfielder.

“I love it. I love it. That’s why Arsenal are there,” he told Sky Sports.

“What we saw (on Monday) shows what Declan Rice means. That’s the mentality at Arsenal. We’ve faced that in the Premier League this (past) season as well as in the Carabao Cup and how competitive they are.”

“Otherwise, they wouldn’t have had the kind of season they had in the Premier League and went unbeaten in the Champions League, not just Mikel[Arteta]but the type of players who follow this message.”

“And in the bad moments, they have the resiliency to say, we’re there, we’re there. This is a good example for us of what we’re going to face in six, five games of a title fight.”
