Barcelona would rather extend Marcus Rashford’s loan into a second season – and Manchester United could agree to that to keep him off the Old Trafford wage bill
Barcelona want to extend Marcus Rashford’s loan deal from Manchester United until a second season. And Rashford would prefer to remain at the Spanish giants rather than return to Old Trafford in the summer.
Barça have presented the offer to United, who are said to be considering whether to agree a second loan deal.
Both clubs agreed a £26 million transfer fee for Rashford, but Barca failed to renegotiate the price. United remain in place with this clause until June 15th.
Rashford wants to resolve his future before heading to the World Cup with England, subject to being included in manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Unless an agreement is reached by then, the two clubs are thought to resume negotiations at the end of the season.

One stumbling block could be the fact that Rashford’s wages would go back up to £315,000 a week if United qualify for the Champions League.
Barca have paid his full contract fee and United will want this to continue even if another loan deal is signed. Rashford will probably continue his career at Barça.
United are desperate to reduce the club’s payroll this summer, with Casemiro and Jadon Sancho set to leave the club.
This will save United over £500,000 a week. And co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reluctant to put Rashford back on the books.
Rashford has been enjoying life at Barcelona since joining on loan at the start of last season. He fell in love with football again, rediscovering his best form and is said to have been recalled to the England squad.
The 28-year-old scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists to help the Catalan side move six points clear of rivals Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
