Some in the Chelsea dressing room are reportedly confused by Liam Rosenior’s tactical approach and have lost faith in him. The struggling Blues manager oversaw a disastrous five-game losing streak that left them seventh in the Premier League table. Their dismal performance has led to speculation that Rosenior will be sacked after just three months in charge.
According to talkSPORT, despite originally planning to review Rosenior’s position as manager at the end of next season, Chelsea’s continued poor performance forced the board to hold an emergency meeting. He signed a six-and-a-half year contract when he arrived in January. That means the west London resident could have to pay millions of dollars in compensation if he decides to pull the trigger.
As the pressure continues to mount, some Chelsea players are starting to give up on the manager’s approach.
According to the Daily Mail, many players are struggling to understand what Rosenior is asking of them. It is claimed that his tendency to change plans mid-match exacerbated the problem.
Attitude is not thought to be the problem, but the real problem is thought to be a breakdown in communication between managers and players.
A source said: “Liam is a really nice guy and we all want him to succeed, but in real life a lot of players struggle to understand what he wants from them.”
“He is intense, gives them too much information, and does a lot of individual work in addition to what they do in the group. It is difficult for them to follow, and it gets even worse when he changes instructions during the match.”
“Everyone is frustrated and they know the result could have been better, but they don’t feel like they understand what’s expected of them and they don’t feel like things are going to change.”

It comes after Rosenior launched a scathing attack on his players after Tuesday’s defeat to Brighton, describing their performance as “unacceptable”.
He added: “I continue to come out and protect my players. The performance tonight, the way we conceded goals, the number of duels we lost, the lack of intensity from our team, it’s indefensible.”
“Something has to change dramatically now. There was no professionalism there. It’s a really difficult night. It was the most difficult night not just here, at this great football club, but of my career.”
“Some of the things I witnessed today I never want to see again. I take responsibility and I’ve always said that, but I think after tonight the players need to look in the mirror and see what they’ve put in.
“We lost 80 percent of our duels. We didn’t win with headers. Two of the goals came when we were able to head the ball. If you make these mistakes and lack engagement at any level, you don’t win football matches.”
“I saw the commitment three days ago against Manchester United. Even though we lost the game, the performance was very, very good. Today was the complete opposite in every way. That’s what disappointed me the most.”
As it stands, it is unclear whether Rosenior will be in charge when Chelsea face Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley this weekend.
