Victor Goqueres has had a mixed season at Arsenal since joining from Sporting Lisbon, and could have received negative reviews from supporters.
Victor Gokeres has praised two former Tottenham heroes who may have clashed with Arsenal fans. The Swedish forward, signed from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, had a mixed debut season in North London.
He has scored 18 goals in all competitions, including 12 in the Premier League. However, his contributions elsewhere have come under criticism from some quarters.
Gökeres has praised the two former Tottenham frontmen, which could cause him trouble with supporters. Tasked by TNT Sports with developing the ultimate striker, he was asked who had achieved the best results in world football.
He then selected Harry Kane, Spurs’ record scorer. He is the England captain who scored 280 goals in 435 appearances for the North London outfit before moving to Bayern Munich. Kane went on to score an impressive 136 goals in just three seasons in Germany, and recently won his second Bundesliga title.

Another former Tottenham striker was also selected for the first touch, chief among them Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2006 and scored 46 goals in two seasons before moving to Manchester United.
However, Gokeres defended himself when it came to penalties, citing his special skills. Meanwhile, he chose Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé for pace and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for strength.
Ronaldo Nazario was chosen by Gokeres for his dribbling ability, while current Al Nasr forward Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen for his composure. Gokeres will no doubt be looking to take advantage of the skills of his chosen squad as he aims to lead Arsenal to the Premier League title in the final weeks of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently top of the table, but are only three points behind Manchester City after defeat at the Etihad Stadium. Wayne Rooney has slammed Mikel Arteta’s decision to leave Gokeres on the bench for the crucial game.
“If he comes out and scores the winning goal or the tying goal, I think it’s obviously the right decision,” he said.
“With him not starting, I thought Arsenal would have tried to keep him there. It was strange that he didn’t start because they brought in a number nine, which they were looking for all season. I think he did well, actually. I think not starting in such a big game might have an effect on him.”
