Arsenal Invincible explains why Tottenham want to avoid relegation this season

Tottenham’s Premier League position is currently in serious jeopardy after their winless run continued at the weekend, but former Arsenal star Lauren hopes they remain a top-flight side.

Former Arsenal star Lauren has admitted he wants Tottenham to remain in the Premier League, purely because the Gunners keep beating them.

Tottenham face a real threat of relegation and despite a disastrous season, relegation would come as a huge shock. They have been in the Premier League so far, but are currently two points behind and won’t win in 2026.

Arsenal have scored eight goals against Tottenham this season, winning 4-1 home and away. They achieved a double against their north London rivals last season and Lauren has enjoyed watching her side pick up six points against their neighbours.

The Invincible, who played in 2004, insisted that as a fan of his former team, he always looked forward to playing against Tottenham and would not want to see that taken away by relegation. As a result, he hopes to be able to mount a charge to safety later in the season.

The 49-year-old told The Sun via Casino Wizard: “As an Arsenal fan, there’s one game I love to watch every season, and that’s the North London derby against Tottenham.

“It’s good to play against your biggest rivals every season. I don’t think Tottenham being relegated is good news for Arsenal fans or the Premier League as a whole. It’s good to win against them and I hope that continues. Tottenham being relegated would be a big shock for the Premier League, but hopefully they stay and we can take points from them next season.”

Tottenham take on a third manager in a bid to save their season. They signed Roberto De Zerbi to a lucrative contract in the hope that the Italian could spark late-season form. He has picked up just one point from his opening two games, and the threat of spending a year in the second division is becoming increasingly real.

It could be a season to remember for both north London clubs, with Arsenal on the verge of relinquishing their place at the top of the table. Until recently, they were nine points behind second-placed Manchester City, but consecutive defeats have left their rivals vulnerable.

Mikel Arteta is on the verge of a fourth consecutive second-place finish, but Lauren insists he will never get that chance despite all the support he has received so far.

“All the talk about Arteta being in crisis and Arsenal not winning trophies needs to stop. I don’t think so, because I think Arsenal will win the Premier League. I’m positive and confident. Losing to Manchester City doesn’t mean the title race is over. Manchester City weren’t better. They weren’t even better. They just took their chances.”
