Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite wept as he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher during a Premier League game against Liverpool. The centre-back appeared to have injured his hamstring towards the end of the match.
At this point the score was fixed at 1-1. Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead in the first half, just minutes after Iliman Ndiaye’s goal in the build-up was ruled out for offside.

Brathwaite appeared to be injured while trying to protect the ball inside Everton’s penalty area. He tried to continue at first, but then grabbed his hamstring and collapsed.
The defender looked emotional as medics treated him, indicating he believed it could be a season-ending injury.
It could also affect the centre-back’s desire to make a belated push into Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.
The 23-year-old only returned from a long-term hamstring injury in January and is not expected to make his first appearance of the season until early 2026.
Since then, he has made 10 appearances in the Premier League and re-established himself in Everton’s starting XI.
Two injuries to Mamadashvili and Branthwaite added 11 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match.
Virgil van Dijk scored a dramatic winning goal in the final minutes in the final minutes, sealing a crucial 2-1 victory for Arne Slott’s side.
With this win, Liverpool are now in fifth place, seven points behind sixth-placed Chelsea. Everton are tied with Brighton in 10th place, with just one point separating them from Brentford in seventh place.
