MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry is likely to miss the rest of the season, putting his participation in the World Cup with Germany in doubt.
Gnabry has torn the adductor muscle in his right thigh and will be out for a “long term,” Bayern announced on Saturday.
The club did not provide further details, leaving it unclear the extent of the injury and when the 30-year-old forward will return. However, it looks like he will miss the remaining games of this season as Bayern Munich aims to win the treble of trophies.
Bayern is likely to win the Bundesliga title on Sunday Unless they lose at home to Stuttgart, in which case they will need four more rounds to win the trophy.
Bayern will play away to Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-final on Wednesday, before facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final.
Gnabry contributed to eight goals and scored a further seven. Bayern break Bundesliga scoring record last weekend.
He had started in all World Cup qualifiers, including Germany’s two friendlies in March, and was certainly included in coach Julian Nagelsmann’s plans for the tournaments in Mexico, Canada and the United States.
